The Dubai Municipality is set to be restructured upon the approval of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai.
This approval brings forth the creation of four entirely new departments within the Dubai Municipality. These will be focused on the environment, building permits, facilities management, and waste management. Along with this, the Crown Prince aims to separate 8 major activities that were earlier associated with the Dubai Municipality. Within new provisions, they will operate independently with the assistance of the private sector.
The change has been implemented following the decision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed at the last Dubai Council meeting. The decision, put forth by the ruler of Dubai, suggested the complete restructuring of the Municipality. This move also enables the city to save Dhs8 billion as it will allow Dubai Municipality to work more efficiently.
The restructuring is also set to welcome private sector partnership opportunities that are worth Dhs10 billion! These initiatives are taking place with the hope to contribute to society and bring in innovative services.
According to HH Sheikh Hamdan, “The Goal Is To Build Partnerships, Achieve Financial Sustainability, And Develop Services That Achieve An Unprecedented Quality Of Life. Dubai Municipality Is The Mother Of Institutions, And Their Development Contributes To Dubai’s March.”
