Investor visa

This type of visa is issued to entrepreneurs and investors to encourage more foreign investments in the nation. The investor visa is issued for varying duration, depending on the investor’s needs.

Recently, the demand for an investor visa has been growing exponentially. Check out its benefits:

  • Corporate tax exemptions
  • Can live outside of the UAE for a maximum of one year. Generally, residence or employment visas permit you to stay outside the country for only six months
  • Easier for the investor to travel to GCC countries as it speeds up the travel visa process.
  • It can help you receive the Golden Visa, a 10-year residency visa

The conditions to obtain an investor visa are as follows:

  • You must ensure that your investment money is your own and has not been taken on a loan
  • For the 5-year visa, the investor’s AED 5 million must be maintained for three years, and for the 10-year visa, the investor’s AED 10 million must be maintained for two years
  • For an investor visa that comes through buying residential property, while it can be shared and co-owned among spouses, the investor will be required to provide a marriage certificate

There are four ways of obtaining an investor visa; likewise, there is an eligibility criterion for each.

  • Visa through investment in residential property: Through this type, the investor visa applies to investors having invested in property worth over AED 1 million or above, and as much as 50% of the value must be under a mortgage.
  • Visa through investment in a company: The investor visa is also applicable to those with investments in businesses, be it their own or in a partnership. If the investor owns shares in a business that are worth AED 75,000 or has a capital investment of that same amount while establishing their own business, they can avail of this visa.
  • Long-term residence visa: Relatively recent to have been introduced, this visa is applicable for 5 or 10 years depending on the criteria met by the investor. Those with at least AED 10 million in investments in the country are awarded a 10-year visa. Similarly, the 5-year visa applies to investors with AED 5 million worth of investment in the country (also valid if their current projects are a minimum of 500,000.
  • Retirement visa: This visa is applicable for five years under the condition of having investments worth AED 2 million, savings worth AED 1 million, or an active income of AED 20,000.

An employment visa is required for individuals who are employed in Dubai and wish to reside there for their employment. The visa is sponsored by the individual’s employer and is valid for two years.

It allows the holder to enter and exit the country multiple times during the validity of the visa and is renewable.

The most common advantages followed by most companies in Dubai are:

  • A tax-free income means there is no obligation to pay any part of your salary to the government in the form of tax. The only tax generally expected to be paid is the Value Added Tax or VAT, applied to commodities people purchase.
  • Health insurance by the employer. Each insurance company offers a different amount of coverage on medical issues and medicines – for accurate information, it is best to check with the insurance provider.
  • Entitled to 30 days of paid vacation and round-trip flight tickets to home country
  • Valid business license held by the employer to ensure the legitimacy of the business
  • Your employer/company must also not have any registered violations against them
  • Any individual above the age of 18 can be issued an employment visa by their employer

Freelance visa

Freelance Visa

The concept of freelancing is increasingly gaining the attention it deserves – and thanks to a boom in technology and the digital space, more and more people are now working remote jobs. With ever-changing times and the increased popularity of flexible working, it was crucial to bring forth a visa that allows people who do not have traditional full-time jobs to continue living and earning in the UAE.

For you:

  • You can work from the comfort of your home as a physical office is optional.
  • Your freelance permit serves as a residence visa that is valid for one year or three years, depending on the package you have applied for.
  • With no contract legally binding you to one company, you can pick up multiple projects from various companies at the same time.

For an employer:

While the benefits of one being a freelancer and having a freelance visa are already known to the public, there is a lot in it for employers as well. Here are some major benefits employers can gain from hiring freelancers.

  • Employers can cut down on costs surrounding the hiring of employees, sponsoring their visas, work permits, medical insurance, and more by simply hiring freelancers on freelance visas.
  • Hiring a freelancer allows employers to allocate work only once a project arises.
  • With an abundance of options available, you can choose from a pool of freelancers all specialized within a certain field.
  • The freelance permit is valid for a period of one year, after which you are required to renew it.
  • The freelance visa can be sought by anyone in the services industry looking to work independently.
Nany

Maid/Nanny Visa

The UAE issues legal documents that permit a person to begin working in the country as a domestic helper; however, the process can seem overwhelming as many technicalities are involved in doing so.

Hiring a domestic helper is a serious affair, and the UAE has strict guidelines for it.

  • As domestic help through agencies is a costly affair in Dubai, bringing domestic help from your own country serves to be a cost-effective solution
  • The helper must be given one day off every week
  • You must provide your helper with medical insurance
  • By law, your domestic help is entitled to a 30-day paid vacation annually, along with a round-trip ticket
  • They are also granted another 30 days if he/she falls ill
  • It is the sponsor's responsibility to manage the helper’s accommodation, food expenses, and outfit/uniform

Once you’ve got your domestic help documentation ready, you can begin with the legal formalities required to bring them into the country. There are a few key steps needed:

  • You must apply for an employment permit for the helper
  • Upon arrival to the UAE, the sponsor must submit their Medical Fitness test
  • The sponsor is required to get a residence visa stamped on their passport and apply for the Domestic Worker Identification Card
  • It is also important for the sponsor to get their Emirates ID issued.

In order to cancel the domestic helper’s visa for their departure, you have two options; one is to have it canceled directly at the airport and the other is to have it canceled via GDRFA. To cancel it via the GDRFA, which is a relatively less time-consuming process as it can be done in advance, you must submit the following documents.

  • The helper’s labor card.
  • Helper’s passport.
  • A typed residence cancelation form.
  • Much like the issuance of their visa and arrival of the domestic helper, the cancellation of their visas is a simple, yet confusing process as well. However, with a trusted consultancy specializing in visa-related services, this can be a smooth experience to undertake. Allow us to assist you in your visa issuance and visa-cancelation processes to save yourself all the time and hassle.
